A new organization is currently being developed! Crayfish Corner Conservancy. Focused on land conservation in NYS. CCC (or Triple Charlie) has secured a property in Hinsdale, NY that is being developed into Tail of the Trail Park. The park is part of the final, southernmost mile of the Genesee Valley Greenway Trail that runs from Rochester to Hinsdale. CCC is also establishing the Triple Charlie Veterans Program. This program will be specifically focused on veterans living with PTSD. WNY already has some great veterans organizations that provide events and opportunities for veterans. The issue is that there are some veterans with PTSD who simply cannot participate in group events, be in loud places, etc. The Triple Charlie Veterans Program hopes to provide these individuals with opportunities to live their best life by providing participant limited (1-4 individuals) events including simply sitting out in nature, hiking, fishing, overnight camps, excursions in the WNY area, and more.
As one of those veterans living with PTSD that has a difficult time with life, let alone most vet events, I understand first hand how difficult daily life can be. My name is Matthew Laun. It is due to the experiences that my wife and I have been through, and the importance of the support that we have received that we feel led to help others who are struggling to operate daily, and who struggle to get connected because, well, it's really difficult. As hard as it is, it is even more difficult to attempt to explain it to those around us. PTSD is mostly an invisible struggle.
I am very excited about Tunnels to Towers and the apartment complex they are constructing in Cheektowaga, NY. My wife and I desire to support this project, 5K not only by participation in the 5K every year, starting last year, but by bringing support and opportunities directly to the future veteran and first responder residents on Cheektowaga.
